Purpose of the SAT: The SAT is a multiple choice test that is comprised of (1) Verbal questions that test the ability to understand and analyze what is read, recognize relationships between parts of a sentence, and establish relationships between pairs of words and (2) Math questions that test the ability to solve problems involving arithmetic, algebra and geometry.
Who must take the SAT: Freshmen and transfer applicants who have fewer than 56 semester or 84 quarter units of transferable college work should submit scores from either the ACT or the SAT.
When should the SAT be taken: Ordinarily, the SAT is taken in high school during the junior and/or senior year. You should take the SAT at least six weeks prior to the deadline for receipt of admission materials. If you have taken the SAT or SAT I in the past you may request that previous scores be sent to CSU East Bay.
