The benefits of study abroad go well beyond academic enrichment. You will experience personal growth by acquiring valuable skills, such as language fluency and cross-cultural understanding, for your career. Many students go overseas to learn about another country, culture, and return with priceless memories and experiences that last a lifetime.
Earn Degree Credit Overseas

Through Study Abroad, Cal State East Bay students go overseas for one semester or an academic year and gain academic credit towards their degree at an affordable price. Students can study a variety of subjects in a number of different countries. For example, you can study Multiculturalism in Denmark, International Business in Korea, History in Spain, or Biochemistry in Sweden, just to name a few possibilities.

CSU International Programs
International Programs is the system-wide overseas study program of the CSU. Programs are all one year in length to allow students to maximize their study abroad experience.

International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)
ISEP is an organization of 245 institutions of higher education located throughout the U.S. and in more than 35 countries. Cal State East Bay students receive credit while studying abroad at a partner university and in most cases pay tuition, room and board to Cal State East Bay.

Cal State East Bay Bilateral Exchange
Cal State East Bay Bilateral Exchange Programs are one-to-one exchanges with another university overseas. You will be responsible for paying Cal State East Bay fees while your tuition at the host university is waived. Program length varies from one quarter to a full academic year. The following countries are participants in the Bilateral Exchange program:
- Japan – all majors
- Korea – all majors
- Philippines - all majors
- United Kingdom – all majors
National Student Exchange (NSE)
Do you want to experience something new, but stay closer to home? The National Student Exchange provides opportunities for students to spend a semester or an academic year at numerous other universities and colleges in North America, including most U.S. states, Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Canada. Cal State East Bay students can either continue to pay Cal State tuition, or pay in-state tuition at the host institution.
