Our responsibilities include the purchase and delivery of electricity, natural gas, and water for our campuses. Our Department is constantly looking at innovative energy solutions which will help decrease the University's dependence on traditional energy sources.
Completed Energy Projects
Lighting - Replaced inefficient T-12 fixtures with high-efficiency T-8 fixtures across the campus. Whenever possible, we are installing LED lighting.
Plumbing - Installed low-flow restroom fixtures.
Energy Management System - Installed a monitoring and control system for HVAC equipment.
Solar Panels - Installed 1 MgW system that provides electricity to campus buildings. Solar panels were installed on four roof-tops.
Fuel Cell Under Construction
Ground was broken for PG&E's Fuel Cell project on January 11, 2011. The fuel cell when completed will provide electricity to PG&E's electrical grid, while CSUEB will use a heat-recovery system to warm the Theater, Robinson Hall, and Music buildings along with water for two swimming pools.
