The grounds department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of both the Hayward and Concord campuses. We are actively involved with landscape improvements, renovations, and new installations.


  • Lawn mowing, edging and watering
  • Upkeep of all sport fields (both natural grass and artificial turf)
  • Planting of new and replacement trees, annual color and other plant materials
  • Irrigation installation, maintenance and renovation (See a broken sprinkler? Call ext. 5-4444)
  • Pathway sweeping and blowing


  • 18 staff members
  • Hayward Campus has 180 acres of developed landscape (364 total acres)
  • Concord Campus has 70 acres of developed landscape (384 total acres)
  • We propagate many plants at our own on-campus nursery
