Project IMPACT – Academic Advising

Project IMPACT provides customized, one-on-one academic advising to help you create an educational plan to meet your goals and objectives.  Some of the services provided under academic advising include:

  • Guidance on fulfilling your General Education (GE) and graduation requirements (other than major requirements)
  • Assisting you in developing realistic educational goals and a plan to achieve those goals.
  • Helping you understand and provide clarification on academic policies and procedures
  • If you are an undeclared/undecided student, assistance is given through the entire process of researching, selecting, or changing your major(s)
  • Provide referrals to the resources and services available throughout our campus community.
  • If you are experiencing academic difficulties or are placed on academic probation, you can receive special academic counseling to get you back on track

For students with disabilities, there are features of academic advising that are unique to you, and can include:

  • Selecting instructors and courses that best match your learning style and challenges based upon your disability
  • Creating a realistic class schedule that may reduce stress or prevent additional disability management concerns
  • Ensuring your class schedule meets your academic and career goals
  • Priority Registration, which as a Project IMPACT participant is guaranteed regardless of disability.  This reduces the possibility of having to take non-preferred courses that may limit academic success (waitlisted, closed, etc.), ensures accurate and timely accommodations arrangements, and promotes timely completion of degree requirements
  • Providing consistent academic organization, planning and time management prior to the start of each quarter
