Glossary of Acronyms and Terms
Throughout your credentialing experience and well into your professional career, you will come across a variety of acronyms and terms that relate to credential or compliance matters. We prepared a listing of some of the ones you may see throughout your experience at Cal State East Bay.
Academic Advising and Career Education
Academic Advising and Career Education (AACE) assists current students and alumni to help them in preparing to reach their academic and career goals through a variety of advising and employment services including, but not limited to, advising sessions, career and experiential education, networking programs and individual career counseling / job search assistance.
AACE can be a vital resource for help with resumes specific to education jobs, mock interviews with school districts, and a myriad of services to assist you in career planning for credential positions.
For more information about AACE, please visit their website.
Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
At the end of your professional preparation experience, you will apply to the CTC for your credential through the CSSC. In most cases, candidates will not need to deal with the CTC directly for their concerns as the CSSC serves as the official university liaison office to the Commission. You can read more about the role of the CTC by visiting their website.
