Response To Intervention (RTI), Accessing the General Education Curriculum and Positive Behavior Support
Managed by the California Department of Education and WestEd, the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) Resources Project develops resources for use by districts and sites to improve services for all students and provides technical assistance through a consultant network using school site and district level planning and evaluation tools.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
IDEA is the law ensuring services to children with disabilities throughout the nation. IDEA governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education and related services to more than 6.5 million eligible infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities. This site was created to provide a "one-stop shop" for resources related to IDEA 2004 and its regulations, released in 2006. It is a "living" website and will change and grow as resources and information become available. The site will provide searchable versions of IDEA and the regulations, access to cross-referenced content from other laws (e.g., the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), etc.), video clips on selected topics, topic briefs on selected regulations, links to training modules and a Q&A Corner where you can submit questions.
National Center on Response to Intervention (RTI)
The American Institutes for Research and researchers from Vanderbilt University and the University of Kansas -- through funding from the U.S. Department of Education established the National Center on Response to Intervention. The Center’s mission is to provide technical assistance to states and districts and building the capacity of states to assist districts in implementing proven models for RTI/EIS.
The RTI Action Network
The RTI Action Network is dedicated to the effective implementation of Response to Intervention (RTI) in school districts nationwide. Our goal is to guide educators and families in the large-scale implementation of RTI so that each child has access to quality instruction and that struggling students – including those with learning disabilities – are identified early and receive the necessary supports to be successful. The RTI Action Network is a program of the National Center for Learning Disabilities, funded by the Cisco Foundation and in partnership with the nation’s leading education associations and top RTI experts.
National Institute for Urban School Improvement
NIUSI advocates for inclusive urban schools by engaging families, students, practitioners, and school leaders in partnerships for transformation. The website aims to “engage you in understanding the experiences and histories that urban children and their families bring to their local schools”. NIUSI offers assistance for schools that are engaged in building inclusive school communities where every student is included and successful.
The National Center on Accessing the General Curriculum
(NCAC) is a collaborative endeavor to improve access, participation and progress within the general curriculum. Some of the necessary elements for success include utilizing experts in universal design, advanced teaching practices, educational policy, and consensus building activities. NCAC is a project of the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST), and it is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Programs (OSEP).

Beach Center PBS work focuses on a systemic approach to support students with behavioral and academic needs and includes staff training and technical assistance for schools and districts.
Positive Behavior Support at School
The mission of the Institute on Violence and Destructive Behavior (IVDB) is to empower schools and social service agencies to address violence and destructive behavior, at the point of school entry and beyond, in order to ensure safety and to facilitate the academic achievement and healthy social development of children and youth.
The OSEP-funded National Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports
The OSEP-funded National Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports was established to address the behavioral and discipline systems needed for successful learning and social development of students. The Center provides capacity-building information and technical support about behavioral systems to assist states and districts in the design of effective schools.
The Inclusive Schools Network
(ISN) is a web-based resource for families, schools and communities that promotes inclusive educational practices. This resource has grown out of Inclusive Schools Week™, an internationally-recognized annual event sponsored by Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC). ISN’s mission is “to encourage, embolden and empower people to design and implement effective inclusive schools, by sharing insights and best practices and by providing opportunities for connection.” ISN provides year-round opportunities for families and educators around the world to network and build their knowledge of inclusive education.

The California Department of Education, Special Education provides a wealth of information and interactive databases related to the CA Education Code, Administration & Support: Activities of special education advisory groups and other related information; Announcements & Current Issues Current and upcoming events, time-sensitive issues, and hot topics; Data Collection & Reporting: Searchable databases and software for reporting and retrieving special education related information; Family Involvement & Partnerships: Resources and support for parents, guardians, and families of children with disabilities; Laws, Regulations, & Policies Federal and state legislation, laws, regulations, policies, legal advisories, and guidance. Quality Assurance Process: Resources to improve educational outcomes for students with disabilities while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations ,and, Services & Resources:Programs and services available to students with disabilities, publications, training and technical assistance opportunities, and recruitment resources and materials.
