Wind Symphony Auditions
The University Band Program is recognized for innovative programming and superb musicianship in performance. During the past several years, over thirty new works for wind band, composed by CSU East Bay faculty, students, and alumni have received their premiere performances. The East Bay Wind Symphony has performed at the College Band Directors National Association Western/Northwestern Division Conference, the California Music Educators Association State Conference, the CMEA Bay Section Conference, and as a featured ensemble at the California Band Directors Association Conference and the Western States Collegiate Wind Band Festival.
The East Bay Wind Symphony is the core concert band ensemble of CSUEB and is open to all university students (majors and non-majors) by audition. The Chamber Winds is select "pool" of players from the Wind Symphony that performs works specifically for that ensemble, usually one-per-part orchestral wind instrumentation. Personnel for the Chamber Winds ensemble is chosen by the Director of Bands.

Students wishing to be considered for secondary instruments (piccolo, E-flat clarinet, tenor sax, baritone sax, etc.) are welcome to prepare an additional solo or etude excerpt for their audition, unless these instruments ARE their primary instruments.
