The following is a list of the most frequently asked questions from students inquiring about the Pre-Nursing/Health Sciences Program at Cal State East Bay's Concord Campus.
The Pre-Nursing/Health Sciences Program at Cal State East Bay is for entering freshman students to Cal State East Bay University. It is designed especially for students who are graduating high school and looking for a program that will prepare them to apply to Nursing School to obtain their Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Health Sciences.
Who is eligible for the pre-nursing program at Cal State East Bay?
Any freshman student who meets the minimum GPA requirements and admission requirements for California State University East Bay is eligible to attend the program.
Is the Program available at the Concord and Hayward Campuses?
Students can choose to attend the pre-nursing/health sciences program at the Concord Campus or Hayward Campus of California State University East Bay. You only need to apply to the University one time and then choose which campus you would like to attend.
What is the difference between the Concord and Hayward Programs?
The Concord program is taught as a small cohort style program which means you will have a set schedule and attend classes with the same group of students for two years. Courses are guaranteed for students that are a part of the Pre-Nursing/Health Sciences cluster.
Students attending at Concord have only off campus housing options
The Hayward program offers medium to large classes with a variety of choices around the times and days of the week courses are offered. Adjustable schedules to meet the needs of students and on campus housing available for all students.
Both campuses offer state-of-the art facilities that provide hands on instruction for students.
Am I guaranteed a spot in the Nursing program if I complete my pre-requisites at CSU East Bay?
The Cal State East Bay Nursing program is impacted. This means we have an abundance of applications for a limited number of slots in the competitive program. Because the program is impacted we cannot offer guaranteed admission to the CSU East Bay Nursing program. Students that complete their pre-requisites at Cal State East Bay do have the opportunity to be mentored and work alongside nursing program students. Students who complete their pre-requisites at Cal State East Bay will receive 10 additional points towards their Nursing application.
