After graduating from CSUEB with a Biology B.S. degree I was accepted to Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) School of Medicine. I'm very pleased with my undergraduate education as it has definitely prepared me well for medical school. I'm especially happy with the dedication and caliber of the faculty in the CSUEB Biology department. The faculty were always willing to go out of their way to meet with students outside of class and were especially welcoming to students who were interested in gaining research experience. As a biology student, the chance to do research was a wonderful opportunity to build on my knowledge while also helping me to get into medical school. My advice to current students is to study hard, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and get involved in things that interest you whether it's leadership, research, or volunteering as all these things will serve you well in the future.
The possibilities at CalState East Bay are endless and being a biology major gives you an even greater opportunity to immerse yourself in science and learning. The biology program at CalState East Bay has some of the most passionate educators and researchers that I have come across. They were an integral part to my success, providing help for my coursework and advice for my medical school preparations. I am now a medical student at Touro University-California and owe a great deal of my success to the faculty and education I received. The education and research experience I gained from CalState East Bay gave me a competitive and a solid foundation for medical school. Lastly, my advice to fellow students is to enjoy learning, work hard and always be prepared to give your best. There are always ups and downs but you just need to take the hits and keep moving. If you are interested in life sciences or a career as a health profession and enjoy a good challenge, the biology program is exactly what you want.
