Physics Degrees and Programs

The department of physics offers both the Bachelor's of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor's of Science (B.S.) degree and a minor. The BS degree consists of 105 units and is recommended for students interested in going on to graduate school or working as an industrial physicist. The BA degree consist of 88 units is well suited for students wishing to become high school teachers, those that plan to go on to professional school in law or medicine, or those that plan on working in a less technical area or industry. The minor is 43-46 units and is intended mainly for students in mathematics, computer science, biology, chemistry, and geology that are looking for a more in-depth background in the physical sciences.
