Science festivals are not new to Cal State East Bay, as they are a biennial tradition dating back to 1974. College of Science faculty, staff and students are particularly excited to kick off the Bay Area Science Festival, a first of its kind for the San Francisco Bay Area. Approximately 50 activities are scheduled, with demonstrations, experiments, hands-on-activities, exhibits, lectures and much much more. Participation by everyone is encouraged, especially by school-age children. Everyone – young and old – can experience the wonders of science.

Representatives from UCSF, Chabot Space and Science Center, Lawrence Hall of Science, The Tech Museum and the AstroWizard are expected to participate.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory will be sponsoring its traveling “Fun with Science Program” and “Science on Saturday” lecture series program, a one hour presentation by a leading LLNL scientist from 11-12 noon in the Valley Building. Middle and high school students are particularly encouraged to attend this lecture that affects us all in our daily lives.
