Huitzu Lu Faculty Profile

Huitzu Lu is the coordinator of the Chinese Language and Culture Program in the Modern Languages and Literatures Department at California State University, East Bay. She received her B.A. from National Taiwan University with a major in history and a minor in Chinese language and culture. She obtained her M.A. and Ph.D. in East Asian languages and cultures, with specialties in Chinese literature and history, from the University of Arizona. Dr. Lu has taught Chinese language and culture and developed the Chinese curriculum at the university level for more than 15 years. Before joining the Modern Languages and Literatures Department, she taught at U.S. institutions such as the University of Arizona, Foothill College, Defense Language Institute in Monterey, and the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Lu published various journal articles in Chinese literature and history. She has also developed several online courses and earned Quality Matter (QM) recognition.
