ASI Election 2014

Vice President of External Affairs

Pablo Banavente

Hello Pioneers, my name is Pablo Benavente currently running for the position of Vice President of External Affairs. After serving the board this year (2012-2013) I knew that helping students is something that I want to continue to do until I graduate next year. I have learned a lot serving as a Director, and I am ready to be a Vice President of External Affairs. Our board did a lot of good things this year and I wish to continue the same tradition next year, if not even better. I will be open to any suggestions that you have to improve the environment of California State University, East bay. Being able to meet student and administrative as well as teacher expectations is a skill that I am good at doing. My personality, determination, and reliability will be demonstrated if elected as Vice President of External Affairs. I am ready to commit myself to serve our school. A VOTE FOR ME IS A VOTE FOR YOU!!!

Marie Alexandra Ibarra

My name is Marie Alexandra R. Ibarra, and I am currently a junior, double-majoring in Musical Theatre and English with a minor in Philosophy. In the past three years, I have taken on many leadership roles. I have helped start the Honors Student Council to promote the importance of academic excellence and community service as a University Honors Program student. I am involved with many of the musical theatre productions which promote the importance of the performing arts. I have taken on the role of facilitating and teaching as a Peer Mentor of the General Education Department to help freshmen undergraduate students in their transitional journey from high school into college. Just as well, I have a gained an appreciation for the diversity of ideas and values through my involvement in the Philosophy Society. With an outgoing and positive personality, creativity, dependability, and my skill to plan strategically and follow-through will benefit the campus community by serving as Vice President of External Affairs. The experience and skills I have acquired has further inspired me to not only serve specific clubs and programs, but to bridge a connection between ASI and all organizations and students on campus. As Vice President of External Affairs, I will serve to voice the concerns that all students may have, branching from international, freshmen, transfer, and commuter students, in the confidence that ASI will see to it that the needs of the student body influence the future decisions and solutions to be made. If elected, the goals I would like to accomplish are: having Food Truck Tuesdays to provide students with more lunch options, bringing back Multicultural Week in celebration of campus diversity, promoting community service and outreach to the city of Hayward by establishing a service scholarship, and a campus-wide quarterly Movies on the Lawn event, to name a few.
