Programs Supported by OFD/FaCET
We strive to support programs that enhance all aspects of faculty work at CSUEB. We provide opportunities and space for faculty to collaborate on projects that improve teaching and student learning. We strive to enhance collegiality among faculty as we all expand our intellectual, pedagogical, and scholarly horizons. Our services are available to full and part-time CSU East Bay faculty at all stages of their academic careers.
The Faculty Learning Communities (FLC) Program offers faculty the opportunity to engage in year-long focused inquiry into and discussion about a specific theme related to teaching and learning at CSUEB. There have been FLCs with a focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning, on student learning and diversity, and an assessment of general education outcomes.
The Faculty in Residence (FIR) Program provides an opportunity for faculty from across campus to work in the OFD/FaCET, helping encourage faculty to improve teaching and learning at CSUEB. There have been FIRs with a focus on technology, the scholarship of teaching and learning, assessment, diversity, service learning, and new faculty programs.
Interdepartmental Faculty Mentoring Program
The Interdepartmental Faculty Mentoring Program pairs untenured faculty members with experienced faculty from other departments and colleges. The mentoring relationship is undocumented and confidential, providing opportunities for new faculty to meet colleagues in other disciplines and discuss their interests, concerns about teaching, and professional lives in an informal setting.
The Service Learning (SL) Program works as a resource for faculty, students, and community agencies by hosting workshops, campus-community events, and sponsoring funding opportunities. The SL Program can help in a variety of areas: curriculum development, community contacts, student placements, and professional development. The Service Learning Website can link you to a wealth of information on service learning, such as nation-wide service learning websites, lists of community agencies, curriculum information, funding possibilities, service learning publications, plus upcoming service learning events.
