- Have faculty ever asked you about other publication opportunities in the scholarship of teaching? Indiana U. has links to over 150 teaching-related journals for a wide variety of disciplines at http://www.indiana.edu/~libsalc/SOTL.
- The online Chronicle of Higher Education (http://chronicle.com) is a great source of info, and it is easy to send articles to colleagues via email. Although some of the articles are publicly accessible, you’ll need a subscription to gain full access to the online Chronicle.
- POD, the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (http://www.podnetwork.org) is a great organization and many CSU faculty development directors attend their annual fall meeting. POD also has an active listserv.
- Rick Reiss at Stanford maintains the Tomorrow’s Professor listserv (http://sll.stanford.edu/projects/tomprof/newtomprof/postings.html), which is another great source of information and which provides almost daily extracts from resources in higher education that are easy to forward to interested colleagues.
- AAHE (http://www.aahe.org) provides outstanding conferences and resources. Many CSU colleagues have attended their Faculty Roles and Rewards conferences (http://www.aahe.org/initiatives/facultyroles.htm). Their assessment conference also is outstanding. Another great organization is the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U; http://www.aacu-edu.org), and their publication, Greater Expectations is a wonderful review of what a liberal education should be. It’s available online at http://greaterexpectations.org.
- The CSU publishes an online newsletter (http://www.calstate.edu/CSULeader) to help you keep current on CSU happenings. You can add your name to the distribution list.
- If you’re going to provide support for accreditation efforts, WASC (http://www.wascweb.org/senior) has some good materials online, including their 2001 Standards and evidence guide.
- The National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) has some great resources, http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/index.htm.
- MERLOT, started within the CSU, has grown into an international repository of Web-based instructional materials: http://www.merlot.org. Also see MERLOT TWO, http://www.merlot.org/Home.po?discipline=TWO, that focuses on Teaching Well Online.
- The National Teaching & Learning Forum, http://www.ntlf.com, has some very useful articles.
