The NetID is a login name that contains no personal information about the user. It will look something like ab1234 (two alpha characters followed by four numbers). It is used for logging into a variety of systems on campus such as email, Blackboard and MyCSUEB. It does not replace or change a person's email address.
The activation code is a one-time password for new NetIDs. It is used to activate new NetIDs and is only used once. On certain occasions, such as when someone does not remember their password and security questions, a NetID may need to be re-activated using a temporary activation code.
Students will be provided their NetID and activation code in a letter or their personal email registered with the University after completing the application process. New faculty and staff members will be given an activation code upon registering a personal email address with Human Resources. An activation code will then be sent to that email for activation. The NetID can be activated at http://www.csueastbay.edu/
For some systems, you can use your NetID immediately after activating it, but other systems may require that you wait for overnight processes to provide access. If you’ve just received your NetID and cannot log into a particular system, please wait and try again in 24 hours before reporting a problem. If you continue to have problems, please open a ticket with the Service Desk at http://www.csueastbay.edu/servicedesk.
No, NetIDs are automatically generated and assigned and cannot be changed.
Staff, faculty and student assistants are required to change their passwords every 120 days. Students are not required to change their NetID passwords at this time.
Your Bay Card displays your NetID, but you can also follow the links to recover your lost NetID (http://www.csueastbay.edu/netid). If you cannot use the online self-service tools, you must go to one of the following places (bring your photo ID):
For Students: Hayward campus - the Enrollment Information Center (EIC) on the first floor of the Student Services and Administration building. Concord campus - the Academic Services Lobby.
For Staff and Faculty: Hayward campus – the Human Resources center on the second floor of the Student Services and Administration building.
If you are unable to travel to either of the above locations, please open a ticket with the Service Desk at http://www.csueastbay.edu/servicedesk.
If you have lost or forgotten your password, you need to reset your password using the NetID self-service web site (http://www.csueastbay.edu/netid). If you cannot use the online tools, please open a ticket with the Service Desk at http://www.csueastbay.edu/servicedesk.
You should only be issued one NetID even if you are a student, staff or faculty member at the same time. Please report the problem to the Service Desk at http://www.csueastbay.edu/servicedesk.
