Captioning Instructional Materials
Use this service to request captioning of media materials that your use in your courses. This service is generally requested when you receive a notice that you need to accommodate a student in your course who has a hearing disability. It is also a service you will request when you create a new course that incorporates multimedia materials with an audio component or you add a new multimedia component to an existing course. The ATSO office will coordinate the creation of transcripts and captioning of these media materials for you. Faculty may need to give ATSO staff access to their Blackboard course site to facilitate this. All new commercially produced media titles must be purchased with captions or with the rights to caption if a captioned copy is not available.
Note: Using Blackboard to post handouts and other instructional materials is a good first step in making courses universally accessible.
