A redesigned Cal State East Bay Magazine Web site features photo galleries and access to an electronic version of the magazine with "flippable" pages.
Fresh Web design and features for Cal State East Bay Magazine
- October 30, 2009
Browse through the fall issue of Cal State East Bay Magazine on the recently redesigned Web site that includes new photo gallery and page viewing features, plus tools to share stories using several social media options.
“I love that it’s easy to use,” said Kate Shaheed, director of Alumni Relations. “It’s really easy to refer people to an article online, and while they’re there, they can view other content.”
Visitors may view stories three ways: Choose a link to a specific story, open a PDF of the complete magazine or select the Issuu.com icon to read an electronic copy of the magazine that allows viewers to “flip” through page by page.
“The goal was to create a visually interesting, professionally designed look-feel that allowed easy access to features and news stories in the magazine,” said University Art Director Jesse Cantley. “The other part of it was to create a professional photo gallery.”
Additionally, the new alumni magazine page allows users to conveniently access or share content through social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, he said.
“It’s easy to access stories and link to them from other parts of our Web site and to social media (platforms),” Cantley said. “For instance, we could post a story to Facebook, allowing a large readership and generate buzz online.”
An archive added to the revised site also will allow visitors to refer to a PDF of issues of Cal State East Bay Magazine dating back to 2006.
Cal State East Bay Magazine is published three times annually by the Office of University Communications, a department of the University Advancement division, and by the CSUEB Alumni Association. The publication spotlights faculty research, university and student achievements and the accomplishments and contributions of members of CSUEB’s 100,000-strong community of alumni and friends.
