  • June 30, 2011

Cal State East Bay’s online bachelor’s degree program in business administration, introduced less than two years ago, ranked among the top online programs in the nation for 2011. The Best Colleges, a Texas-based Web service which reviews publicly available data to produce independent rankings, named CSUEB’s online business program sixth-best nationally. .

“Cal State East Bay’s program is the only AACSB-accredited online business administration degree offered by a California university,” Jeremy Alder, managing editor of The Best Colleges, said June 27. “It is an excellent value.”

CSUEB’s online Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program, launched during the winter 2010 quarter, offers a degree with options in finance, supply chain management, corporate management, or operations and enterprise resource management. It is accredited by AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). At least two years of previous coursework towards an accredited bachelor’s degree is required for enrollment in the online program.

“I am really excited by the success of our online degree program in business,” said Terri Swartz, dean of CSUEB’s College of Business and Economics. “It awards the same degree as that earned by students who come to our campus, with the same courses and same faculty. It just is taught in a different format. Online education may not be right for everyone, but it is right for some, like the busy adult who is self-motivated and wants to move ahead.”

Other universities making the top 10 list for online bachelor’s of business administration degree programs were Florida International, University of Massachusetts, Penn State, University of Illinois at Springfield, University of Minnesota at Crookston, Drexel, Washington State, Huntington and Spring Arbor.

Applicants for CSUEB’s online business administration program must have fulfilled all lower-division business course requirements, lower-division general education requirements and meet all minimum Cal State East Bay junior-level transfer requirements. To be considered for acceptance into the online degree program, applicants must have completed a minimum of 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter units), have a grade point average of 2.0 or better in all transferable units and be in good standing at the last college or university attended.
