Marin voter information available on smart phones

  • October 9, 2012

Marin County residents can get ballot information for the Nov. 6 election via smart phone.

"Voter Guide Now — Marin" is a free app available for both Apple and Android mobile devices. Voters can go to www.voterguidenow.org to download it.

Voters can use the program to find their polling places and to see how to apply for voting by mail. The app was developed by Elizabeth Bergman, a political science professor at California State University, East Bay.

A recent analysis by Bergman of voter sentiment in Marin's June primary indicated that a lack of motivating contests contributed to a poor turnout in which half of the county's registered voters did not cast ballots.
