Axis Dance Company of Oakland, one of the world’s leading physically integrated modern dance companies, will do a demonstration performance from 10:15-11:45 a.m. April 22 in the University Theatre on the Hayward campus.

AXIS performers will do excerpts of their recent works, then talk about the challenges and possibilities of dance that includes persons with and without disabilities.

Eric Kupers, theatre and dance assistant professor, says six clusters of students will be among those attending.

AXIS commissions original, physically integrated choreography by some of the top U.S.

contemporary dance artists, including Bill T. Jones, Margaret Jenkins, Joe Goode, David Dorfman, Ann Carlson and more. The CSUEB Dance for All Bodies and Abilities program is working to raise money to hire AXIS dancers as guest artists in residence.

Information on AXIS is at axisdance.org

Thursdays performance has been made possible by the departments of Theatre and Dance, Recreation and Leisure, Kinesiology and Physical Education, Philosophy, and Music.
