CSUEB grad leads diversity efforts at US Airways

Since 2007, Daniel Pon has overseen US Airways’ human resources division as , Vice President, Human Resources. His responsiblities include health and welfare and retirement benefits, compensation, relocation, HR systems and records, employee relations, drug and alcohol testing, employee travel, recruitment and staffing.

Prior to US Airways, Pon held a variety of human resource leadership positions, including vice president of human resources for ASTAR Air Cargo, Inc (formerly DHL Airways, Inc.) and vice president of compensation, benefits, payroll, HRIS for E*Trade, and vice president of global compensation and benefits for Sanmina-SCI. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science as well as his Masters of Arts in public administration from California State University, East Bay.

Under his reign, US Airways received numerous accolade for their diversity efforts. It was named as one of the 50 best U.S. companies for Hispanic women to work for in the current issue of LATINA Style magazine. It is the second year in a row that US Airways has been included on the list. The magazine reviewed more than 800 corporations and included US Airways as the only airline among its top 50 companies.

US Airways also earned a 100 percent rating on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index, a leading indicator of companies' attitudes and policies toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees and customers. This is the sixth year in a row the airline has achieved a perfect score.
