Four-time presidential candidate, Ralph Nader, will speak on the Cal State East Bay Hayward campus on Friday, September 30, at 6pm in the multipurpose room of the new University Union. The event is sponsored by Associated Students, Inc.

Nader came to prominence after publishing his book, Unsafe at Any Speed, a critique of the safety record of American automobile manufacturers in general, and most famously the Chevrolet Corvair.  In 1999, an NYU panel of journalists ranked Unsafe at Any Speed 38th among the top 100 pieces of journalism of the 20th century.

Nader told University of Tennessee students in a speech earlier this year, "I want to show how students can be very powerful as students. as part of their coursework they can monitor congress, challenge corporations, credit card companies, food companies, banks because if they're not trained to do that as part of their education they'll continue to be ripped off after they leave school." He recently released his first novel, Only the Super-Rich Can Save Us!

Throughout Nader's life and career, he has influenced the nation through his books and speeches about ecology, Congress, Federal Trade Commission, Corporate Executives and more.

Event is free and open to the public. Event parking is $5 at Cal State East Bay parking dispensaries. Student, Staff, and Faculty CSUEB parking permits are valid.
