Nursing and Health Sciences Lecturer Stephen J. Morewitz co-authored a new play with Susan Lieberman, Steamship Quanza, which will be included in Staging Holocaust Resistance (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012) by Gene A. Plunka.
Inspired by a true World War II incident, Steamship Quanza interweaves the lives of passengers aboard a ship fleeing Hitler's Europe and the Jewish husband-and-wife maritime lawyer team in Virginia who battle to save them in 1940. Morewitz is the grandson of the lawyers, J.L. & Sallie Morewitz, upon whom the story is based.
Staging Holocaust Resistance will be released in May 2012.
