According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, HR management is a top employing field nationally and for the Bay area. Wages are consistently high and jobs are stable. The skills of HR management are tranferrable between private-sector, public-sector, and non-profit businesses.

California State University, East Bay offers a certificate in HR Management (HRM) for those professionals looking to expand their hireability or for current HR professionals without official certification in the field. The program provides students with a working knowledge of all evolving aspects of the field, now a requirement given HR's increasingly strategic nature.

The HRM certificate program offers three levels of HRM: Basic, advanced, and executive. Those with no formal academic training in HR management will find the Basic course especially helpful.
