CSUEB Concord expands free BART shuttle hours
- January 18, 2013 11:00am
As of Jan. 7, the first day of winter quarter, Cal State East Bay students attending classes on the Concord campus have more extended access to a free shuttle service to and from the Concord BART station. Shuttle service is free to students, staff and faculty displaying their Bay Card.
The first direct shuttle service to the Concord Campus started in October 2011 and was only available to students taking evening courses. After reviewing ridership and receiving results of student need surveys – campus administration approved additional services to meet student requests.
Expanding the shuttle time will mean all students attending any class will be able access the Concord campus by public transportation. Additionally if students need help planning a trip, getting times for a connecting bus or finding a carpool buddy they have direct access to 511 Contra Costa through our transportation partnership. Through the partnership every student riding the shuttle and filling out a survey will be entered into a drawing for $50 for winter quarter and free BART tickets during spring quarter. To enter the drawing, pick up a survey at the academic services counter or from the shuttle bus driver.
The first morning shuttle leaves the Concord Bart Station at 7:40 am in time for students attending 8:00 am classes. And the last shuttle arrives at BART at 10:30 pm for students that have classes ending at 10:00 pm. Access the full schedule online at: http://www20.csueastbay.edu/concord/shuttle.html.
Students are “more than thrilled” about the Concord Campus shuttle service says ASI Concord Campus Director Stephanie Pinkston. “We created and circulated a survey about the shuttle... and about 20% of the student population responded.” Stephanie encourages students to ride the shuttle through a parody video she created on You Tube.
