With wins in 10 individual races and one relay, the Cal State East Bay swim team posted a 169-105 victory over Azusa Pacific on Saturday at Pioneer Pool. The Pioneers, led by three wins from Alyssa Tenney, notched their eighth dual meet victory in their final meet against a conference opponent this season.
"On paper Azusa looks like a team that should have the advantage over us in a dual meet, but our team came out again and were ready to swim and ready to win," Head Coach Ben Loorz said. "Alyssa had a great day with three wins and new school record, Courtney took both breaststroke events and we just had a really good meet all around."
Tenney set the standard for the Pioneers, picking up wins in the 50 free, 200 back and 400 IM. In the IM, Tenney touched the wall in 4:42.28, breaking her own school record in the event by nearly two seconds. Meanwhile, Tenney made a rare appearance in the 50 free, beating out Azusa's Quinn Robertson with a teim of 24.77. In the 200 back, Tenney posted a three-second win over teammate Bethany Hoopman.
The Pioneers will celebrate Senior Day for their four seniors on Friday, Jan. 25 at Pioneer Pool at 1 p.m.
