With their personal experiences and real world insights, Cal State East Bay alumni are some of the best people to answer questions about what it’s really like to be a Pioneer. Alumni are great ambassadors — and there are more than 120,000 successful graduates out there whose stories can inspire future students.

The university is now looking for alumni volunteers to join Cal State East Bay staff and faculty at informational events to reach prospective students and provide additional resources for their families as they prepare for college. The first event is the Education Summit, Feb. 23 at the CSUEB Hayward campus. This annual event is an opportunity for African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American and Pacific Islander students and their families to learn about college readiness. Volunteers can help with registration and check-in, setting up for sessions, monitoring workshops and assisting tour guides. Alumni of color or those who were also the first in their families to attend college are especially encouraged to volunteer.

The university is also eager to hear from alumni who could help represent CSUEB at regional college fairs — especially out of state or in remote areas. Having a presence at these events is important to raising the university’s profile and attracting students from all backgrounds.
