Interested in a healthcare career as an EKG (Electrocardiogram) technician? Cal State East Bay Continuing Education offers an EKG Technician Certificate Program that can be completed in as little as 10 weeks or just 50 hours.

Students who take advantage of CSUEB’s comprehensive program will receive hands-on training that will equip students with the expertise in the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement, and other clinical practices. Students will also gain familiarity with a range of areas that include the anatomy of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, and legal issues surrounding patient contact, laboratory assisting, electrocardiography, and echocardiography.

Graduates of the program will have the skills and knowledge necessary to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT) Electrocardiograph Technician Exam and other necessary state and national certification examinations.

Admission to the EKG Technician Certificate Program is available to any interested student who has a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and no application is needed to start the program.
