California Campus Compact (CACC), a national leader in civic engagement and service learning is moving to California State University, East Bay.  This move creates a synergy between Cal State East Bay’s commitment to enrich student engagement and learning with CACC’s rich 25-year history of leadership in supporting state, regional, and national civic engagement in higher education.

“This is a very exciting time for CACC and we are proud to host this nationally respected organization on our campus,” said CSUEB President Leroy M. Morishita, who currently serves on the CACC Executive Board.

CACC helps to build the collective commitment and capacity of colleges, universities and communities to advance civic and community engagement for a healthy, just and democratic society.  It also enables strategic partnerships with education, non-profit, legislative, corporate, and foundation representatives to advance civic engagement in California. CACC is affiliated with Campus Compact, a national organization with more than 1,200 colleges and universities.

“As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, this move to California State University, East Bay offers us the opportunity to further the vision and goals of our organization in partnership with an outstanding higher education institution,” said Elaine Ikeda, Ph.D., executive director of CACC.  “CSU East Bay has a long and rich history of engagement within the community and we look forward to working together to promote community service, civic engagement, and service learning for students, faculty, and the community.”

CACC has distributed more than $5.5 million in grants to support civic engagement and service learning throughout the state of California. The organization was previously hosted by the University of California, Los Angeles, San Francisco State University, and Sofia University. CACC was originally founded in 1988 by the presidents of Stanford University and the University of California, Los Angeles.
