Current high school seniors planning to enroll at California State University, East Bay for the fall 2009 academic quarter must have their application submitted by March 1. CSUEB is the only Bay Area CSU that will accept freshman applications after Dec. 1.
The priority application period began Oct. 1 for students currently completing their senior years in a California high school.
The CSU is encouraging these students to apply as early as possible because of challenges brought on by the state's current budget shortfall. As a result, an early application will help students have a better chance of entering CSUEB or any other CSU campus.
"Our March 1 deadline gives students at least three more months than they would have at many other CSUs and gives us more time to collect applications," said Greg Smith, associate vice president for planning and enrollment. "However, students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible in order to receive maximum consideration."
Students and high schools in the Bay Area are being notified about the March 1 deadline by Cal State East Bay recruiters.
Cal State East Bay will accept applications from both lower-division and upper-division transfer students through Aug. 1. All Cal State East Bay admission and document deadlines are available online by clickinghere.
Prospective students should visit the Web site www.csumentor.edu to complete the online application and obtain information on financial aid. Last year the CSU system received close to 400,000 freshman applications and enrolled nearly 54,000 first time freshmen.
