Meet Your Tour Guides!
We look forward to greeting you and showing you everything Cal State East Bay has to offer.
I transferred into East Bay as a Junior and am now a Senior. I am a Communications major with a focus in Public Relations. I chose this major because my goal and aspiration in life is to become a radio personality. The reasons that I chose Cal State East Bay are because the school is not impacted, and there is a lot more diversity here than at the community college I attended. My favorite quote is "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." by Martin Luther King Jr. Of all the songs in my iPod, the most played is "A Change is Gonna Come" by Leela James.
I am currently a Sophomore majoring in Communications. I am a Communications major because I want to be famous of course for good things, I want to have my own television and radio show plus become a rapper/songwriter/producer. My transition into East Bay was slightly difficult, because I am a professional procrastinator and I was no longer in high school so my course load was heavier and more demanding. I feel like everybody has an East Bay story, to be honest I came to this school for love, I am no longer with that person, but I do not regret any of the decisions I've made. East Bay is my home I would like to be the President of this University one day. My favorite quote is "Everybody wants to be famous but nobody wants to put in the work." The song that I listen to the most is “Same Love” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
I am currently a Junior. My major is Biology. With this major I hope to become a pediatrician. I love working with children and people. What helped my smooth transition into college is the EOP program. The program helped me pick my classes and pushed me to better myself. I chose Cal State East Bay because of the view and also the opportunity it offers. My favorite quote is "Believe you can and you're halfway there" by Theodore Roosevelt. My most played song on my iPod is “The Way” by Ariana Grande.
I am a Sophomore. My major is Communications. The transition to college has been a learning experience filled with its ups and downs. I chose East Bay because it was close enough to my family to still be connected, however far enough to gain my own independence. My favorite quote is “Be good and make good choices,” a quote often said by my favorite mentor. A song that is most played on my iPod is “Love and Happiness” by Al Green.
I am currently a CSUEB Senior, and will be graduating in the Spring of 2014. I’m majoring in Biology because I want to pursue a career in the medical field. I was raised in Ewa Beach, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. After high school, I decided to attend Grossmont Community College in San Diego. From there, I transferred to CSUEB in the Summer of 2012. My transition into CSUEB was fun and exciting thanks to the various clubs and organizations on campus. I’m a part of the Excel program, Global Med Brigades Club, SSOS program, and President of the Pacific Islander Student Club. This summer I went on a medical mission trip to Honduras, where I assisted doctors as they treated the locals who did not have access to adequate healthcare. I love island reggae music, so the most played song on my iPod would be “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley. In that song he says one of my favorite quotes: “Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds…”
I am a Senior majoring in Criminal Justice in order to live an exciting and rewarding life, as well as to help others in need. The EOP Summer Bridge program familiarized me with campus, classes, and the resources that are available here to me. The reason I chose CSUEB was the amount of sheer diversity and homeyness. I was immediately attracted to the campus and its size, and while visiting I was welcomed with a warm atmosphere as well as people who enjoyed being here. A quote I like is, "Sometimes...only when its dark enough... can you see the light" by Martin Luther King, Jr. My most played song in my iPod is "Love" by Musiq Soulchild.
This is my second year here at Cal State East Bay now and I am majoring in Health Science with an option in Pre-Clinical Preparation. I am also minoring in American Sign Language to someday work with the elderly. My transition to this college was pretty smooth because in the end, I met a lot of people and got more involved through joining a sorority. I even became best friends with my roommate from living here on campus! I chose Easy Bay because of the area, but I also like the smaller classes here, enabling me to have a closer relationship with my professors. If I had to leave you guys with a quote, it would be "Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it…" by Veronica Roth. The most played song currently on my iPod is "Give Me Love" by Ed Sheeran.
I am a transfer student from Chabot College and a Bay Area native. I am pursuing a double major in Business with options in Accounting and Finance, and Art with a Studio option. I will be graduating this year! I have loved every minute of my time spent here at Cal State East Bay. I am part of the large community of students who work on and off campus and go to school. I work at the Welcome Center on campus, and also work as a draftsman at PRC Design located off campus. My favorite quote is “A wise person should have money in their head, but not in their heart,” by Jonathan Swift. The most played song on my iPod is “Believe” by Tech N9ne. I look forward to showing you around campus on your tour!
I am Sophomore in Communications; I really enjoy public speaking and practicing my craft to find a career that will best suit me. Since coming to college I’ve had a few ups and downs—however I am now finding the balance between school, work, and extracurricular activities. I chose to attend East Bay because of the compassion of the campus as a whole. The faculty and staff do everything they can to help students reach their goals and graduate. My favorite quote is that of the Dalai Lama, he said, “People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost.” The most played song on my iPod is "These Days" by Josh Heinrichs.
I am a junior and my major is Criminal Justice with a Sociology minor. I have always wanted to work while helping others. My transition into college was a bit difficult in a sense of being the first generation of my family to attend a university. No one really told me what to expect from college, but after a couple of days the transition was easier for me. I chose to attend Cal State East Bay for the location, the weather, the view, and a schedule similar to my high school. My favorite quote is "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication," by Leonardo Da Vinci. Of all the songs in my iPod, The Smiths "Handsome Devil" is the most played song.
I am a sophomore here at Cal State East Bay. My major is Business. I like the idea of maybe one day owning my own business. The transition into college for me was relatively easy because I do not live that far from home, so whenever I want to go back home I can. Also the new friends I made allowed my transition to college be much smoother. I chose to attend Cal State East Bay because I received more financial aid from here and the school was close to home. One of my favorite quotes would be "It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light," by Aristotle. The most played song in my iPod would be "Loose it" by Atreyu.
I am a Senior double majoring in Hospitality and Tourism, and Theatre with an emphasis in Dance. I chose this major because I felt it was exactly what I wanted to do; be in the customer service field and still be able to pursue my passion for dance. My transition into college was very smooth. I jumped right in and went through the trial and error process. Figuring out what works for me, and what doesn't work for me. My favorite quote is "If you stay ready you don't have to get ready." My favorite song to play on my iPod is “Single Ladies” by Beyoncé.
Hello! My name is Vivian and I am currently a Junior here at Cal State East Bay. My major is Human Development with a focus in Adolescent Behavior. With such a major, I hope to attend Law School focusing on Family Law. Transitioning from high school to college was a bit scary at first, but I quickly adjusted realizing that there were many other new students in the same situation as I was. The reason why I chose Cal State East Bay was because of the smaller class sizes and location of the school, which made me feel more at home. My all time favorite quote would be: “Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” by J.J.M. The most played song on my IPod would be "This I Promise You" By NSYNC.
I am a very enthusiastic senior, majoring in Spanish with the lifetime hope of becoming a high school Spanish teacher. I attended Evergreen Valley Community College and transferred in Spring 2012. I decided to become a Pioneer because of its wonderful view of the bay and its convenient quarter system. Being the first in my family to continue school and becoming a college student was not an easy task. At the age of 14, I set an important goal for myself to study abroad. I will be spending a semester in Fall 2013 in Spain! I will be living a lifetime dream and encourage all college students to do the same. When things in life seem to be a little tough, one of my favorite quotes comes to mind “Just keep on swimming, swimming, swimming” from the Disney film Finding Nemo. At every social gathering my iPod must play my favorite song “Tragos Amargos” from Ramon Ayala and the feeling of being in Mexico also comes along with it.
