Meet Your Tour Guides!
We look forward to greeting you and showing you everything Cal State East Bay has to offer.
I am in my second year at Cal State East Bay. I plan on Majoring in Biology with an option in Forensic Science, and a Minor in Criminal Justice. My transition into college was easy, but stressful at the same time. It was easy because of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP); they went through all the basic things I needed to know as a first time college student. The process was stressful- due to the fact that I had to put my organization and time management skills to the test. Cal State East Bay was the choice I wanted. The very first time I set foot on campus, I knew this was my new home away from home. "Nothing ever happens the way you expect it to," is not only my favorite quote, but it's also something I live by. A fun fact is that the most played song in my iPOD so far would be "ROAR" by Katy Perry.
I'm a senior here at Cal State East Bay and I transferred from Evergreen Valley College. I love Cal State East Bay because it's really a relaxing atmosphere and still an academically challenging school. My major is Political Science because I want to become a professor after I graduate. I want to show youth the importance of government and how being active and informed on current events is valuable. A quote that I live by is, "Don't follow your dream, lead them," by Lil Crazed, because I view it as a way to take control of your life and lead your dreams. I like Linkin Park because their songs are good motivational songs for when I'm working out or doing homework. My favorite song is "In The End."
I am a sophomore and my major is Business. I plan to open my own art business designing shoes. My transition into college was a little difficult for me. I missed my family and the food, because I am several hours from home, but the "college experience" was definitely worth it. The reason why I chose Cal State East Bay was because I was recruited to play for the Women’s Soccer team. I received a partial scholarship, which helped seal the deal for me. The most played song in my iPod is "Latch" by Disclosure.
This coming Fall quarter is my third year at Cal State East Bay. My major is Health Science with an option in Nursing or Pre-Clinical. My transition into college was very exciting for me. I lived on campus my freshman year and it was very new and exhilarating being on my own. The "IT" factor as to why I chose Cal State East Bay was that it was the Bay Area, close to my sister in Berkeley, and not too far from home. My favorite quote at the moment is one I heard my friend say at her graduation. "With every minor setback, there is a major comeback." It is just a little something I think about every now and then when it comes to school or family or the future. On my iPod, the most played song is "Tattooed Heart" by Arianna Grande. It puts me in a good mood!
I am a senior and my major is Graphic Design with minors in American Sign Language and Biology. I chose Graphic Design because it has always been a dream of mine to someday work for Pixar or Disney as part of their graphic design team. My transition into college was smooth and enjoyable. The courses here at CSUEB were challenging yet fun. Having extra resources on campus such as SCAA or other tutors always made it possible to succeed in any course. The "IT" factor that made me choose Cal State East Bay was the student environment on campus. Everyone was so friendly when I toured the school my senior year in high school. Plus look at that view, who wouldn't want to see that every day?! My favorite quote is, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney. My most played song on my iPod is "Wadsyaname" by Nelly.
I am a third year here at CSU East Bay. I am currently majoring in Sociology because I really like meeting new people and one of the biggest things that I love doing is listening to others and helping them in any way I can. My transition to college was, in the beginning, very hard because I was the first from my family to go to college, and being four hours away from them was pretty difficult. I became independent and I learned how to take on more responsibilities and rely on myself to go and do things that needed to get done. The "IT" factor that made me choose Cal State East Bay was the diversity. All the different types of people that you get to meet and interact with is great. My favorite quote is, "Don’t think about making life better for other people who don't deserve you, rather, focus on making your life the best, for yourself and those who love you." The song that is the most played in my iPod would be "State of Grace" by Taylor Swift.
East Bay has been very good to me throughout the three years that I have been here. My major is Sociology because I wish to gain a perspective on how the social world functions. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon so my transition into college was coming from out of state. The biggest difference between my hometown and the Bay Area would have to be the surroundings. Portland is such a small town and living there my whole life, I had already seen and done everything Portland had to offer. The Bay Area offers much more to explore with cities such as San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland and many more. There is always something new to do. The west coast was the home to Tupac Shakur and he is responsible for my favorite quote, "For every dark night, there’s a brighter day." As much as I love Tupac, Maroon 5- "She Will Be Loved"- is the most played song on my iTunes.
I am a freshman who graduated high school at Baldwin High in Maui, Hawaii. I am a pre-Business major with an option in Public Relations. I chose Business as my major because I have always wanted to work in an office also I feel like Business is a broad major that will allow me to experience many different opportunities. At first it was really difficult for me to adjust to college life because I was very homesick. After classes started I fell into the flow and was able to really enjoy the college experience. The Business program is one of the best out of all the Cal States. Business was really the “IT” factor that made me come to The Bay. My favorite quote is, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” by John Lennon. The song most played on my iPod is "Always and Forever" by The Green, I love this song because it reminds me of home.
I transferred into East Bay as a Junior and am now a Senior. I am a Communications major with a focus in Public Relations. I chose this major because my goal and aspiration in life is to become a radio personality. The reasons that I chose Cal State East Bay are because the school is not impacted, and there is a lot more diversity here than at the community college I attended. My favorite quote is "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." by Martin Luther King Jr. Of all the songs in my iPod, the most played is "A Change is Gonna Come" by Leela James.
I am currently a Junior. My major is Biology. With this major I hope to become a pediatrician. I love working with children and people. What helped my smooth transition into college is the EOP program. The program helped me pick my classes and pushed me to better myself. I chose Cal State East Bay because of the view and also the opportunity it offers. My favorite quote is "Believe you can and you're halfway there" by Theodore Roosevelt. My most played song on my iPod is “The Way” by Ariana Grande.
I am currently a CSUEB Senior, and will be graduating in the Spring of 2014. I’m majoring in Biology because I want to pursue a career in the medical field. I was raised in Ewa Beach, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. After high school, I decided to attend Grossmont Community College in San Diego. From there, I transferred to CSUEB in the Summer of 2012. My transition into CSUEB was fun and exciting thanks to the various clubs and organizations on campus. I’m a part of the Excel program, Global Med Brigades Club, SSOS program, and President of the Pacific Islander Student Club. This summer I went on a medical mission trip to Honduras, where I assisted doctors as they treated the locals who did not have access to adequate healthcare. I love island reggae music, so the most played song on my iPod would be “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley. In that song he says one of my favorite quotes: “Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds…”
I am a transfer student from Chabot College and a Bay Area native. I am pursuing a double major in Business with options in Accounting and Finance, and Art with a Studio option. I will be graduating this year! I have loved every minute of my time spent here at Cal State East Bay. I am part of the large community of students who work on and off campus and go to school. I work at the Welcome Center on campus, and also work as a draftsman at PRC Design located off campus. My favorite quote is “A wise person should have money in their head, but not in their heart,” by Jonathan Swift. The most played song on my iPod is “Believe” by Tech N9ne. I look forward to showing you around campus on your tour!
I am a junior and my major is Criminal Justice with a Sociology minor. I have always wanted to work while helping others. My transition into college was a bit difficult in a sense of being the first generation of my family to attend a university. No one really told me what to expect from college, but after a couple of days the transition was easier for me. I chose to attend Cal State East Bay for the location, the weather, the view, and a schedule similar to my high school. My favorite quote is "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication," by Leonardo Da Vinci. Of all the songs in my iPod, The Smiths "Handsome Devil" is the most played song.
I am a sophomore here at Cal State East Bay. My major is Business. I like the idea of maybe one day owning my own business. The transition into college for me was relatively easy because I do not live that far from home, so whenever I want to go back home I can. Also the new friends I made allowed my transition to college be much smoother. I chose to attend Cal State East Bay because I received more financial aid from here and the school was close to home. One of my favorite quotes would be "It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light," by Aristotle. The most played song in my iPod would be "Loose it" by Atreyu.
I am a Senior double majoring in Hospitality and Tourism, and Theatre with an emphasis in Dance. I chose this major because I felt it was exactly what I wanted to do; be in the customer service field and still be able to pursue my passion for dance. My transition into college was very smooth. I jumped right in and went through the trial and error process. Figuring out what works for me, and what doesn't work for me. My favorite quote is "If you stay ready you don't have to get ready." My favorite song to play on my iPod is “Single Ladies” by Beyoncé.
