Off Campus and Community Service FWS Approved Sites and Community Service Employers

For fiscal year 2008-2009

The off campus employers and community service sites listed below are the only FWS employers or outside agencies that are approved to hire CSUEB FWS students for 2008/09. FWS eligible students may work on campus in almost any department, but off campus only at the following sites. The following sites are also a part of our ‘ community service' federal work-study program at Cal State East Bay .

Students must request and pick up their FWS Hiring Authorization Form (HAF) from SIL—the student information lobby, on the first floor of warren hall on the main campus at CSUEB. More complete job listings are posted on the FWS job boards on the second floor of Warren Hall/south side for these positions, and they are posted additionally on the online jobs program site through the Career Development Center in WA509.

No other off campus employers are approved at this time for FWS eligible CSUEB students throughout the 08/09 year. Only FWS students with an approved ‘HAF' may utilize their fy 2008/09 FWS funds with these employers. We are not responsible for offers made to non-FWS students. Federal Work Study students who are hired by these employers may be considered for an increase in their FWS allocation (need permitting), midyear, if there are still funds available.

BAY AREA COMMUNITY SERVICES (BACS) Job openings available in multiple locations for Mental Health Workers. If you desire to assist the general public in gaining conflict resolution and mediation skills, are detail oriented and self motivated, this could be the job for you.

EAST BAY CONSORTIUM OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS/CAL-SOAP (EBCE) Jo b openings are available at various middle schools and high schools throughout Oakland (potentially Castlemont High School/Life Academy High School—both in Oakland as College Advisor/Tutors; and Skyline, Fremont, Oakland Tech, St. Elizabeth Middle and High Schools, Calvin Simmons, Havenscourt, Urban Promise Academy—all in Oakland as Tutor/Mentors), and possibly Merritt College and Contra Costa College. VALLECITOS CET, INC (VALLE) Jo b openings are available as Teacher's Aides/Tutors in Hayward . Vallecitos CET offers skill training and job placement assistance for youth (ages 16-21), and adults (22+). All training is individualized, self paced, and available on an open entry/open exit basis. The On campus community service sites listed below are specially designated FWS ‘community service' employers for financial aid eligible federal work study students only.

Eligible students must request and pick up their FWS Hiring Authorization Form (HAF) from SIL—the Student Information Lobby, on the first floor of Warren Hall on the main campus at CSUEB in their first quarter of attendance.

More complete job listings are posted on the FWS job boards on the second floor of warren hall for these positions, and they are posted additionally on the online jobs binder site through the Career Development Center in WA509.

FWS students who are hired by these employers will be considered for an increase in their annual FWS allocation (need permitting), after their hiring and appointment paperwork is received by the financial aid office.
