Community Scholarships A - F

Cal State East Bay students have many opportunities for scholarships offered by the community. They are administered by organizations other than Cal State East Bay: local businesses, charitable organizations, corporations, local Rotary Club, local Chambers of Commerce.  Students apply for those in various ways (and meet various deadlines) to be considered. A list of community scholarships with links to the organization’s information page and application process, is available as follows.

Community Scholarships A - F
Abbott & Fenner Scholarship High school juniors and seniors and athose that are already enrolled in a post-secondary institute of higher education; applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 30.
ACS Scholarship

Renewable scholarships for underrepresented minority students who want to enter fields in the chemical sciences. Scholars are selected based on academic standing, financial need, career objective, leadership skills, and involvement in school activities and community service.
Actuary Scholarships For scholarships for those who want to become Actuaries.
Ronald Mack Adams Memorial Scholarship $1,000 scholarship for college students who are graduating from a CSU or UC with a degree in English or Foreign Language and are enrolled/enrolling in a Teaching Credential Program at a CSU or UC. Must have graduated from any Ventura County high school, have a min GPA of 3.5 and demonstrate financial need.
AES Engineering Scholarship Student need not be taking engineering courses to be eligible to apply; scholarship is awarded based on the applicant's character, as determined by the evaluated essay submitted.
AGI's Minority Participation Program Geoscience Student Scholarships Available for both Undergrad and Graduate students. Must be geosciences major or in a related field, a U.S. citizen, and a member of one of several native American minority groups.
Alameda County Farm Bureau Students in Alameda County who wish to further their education in agriculture or a related field. E-mail Sue Rousso at
Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation Scholarships & Fellowships High school students and college freshmen are NOT eligible for this scholarship, only undergraduate sophomores, juniors and seniors, or graduate students may apply. Student must be enrolled fulltime, show academic ability and financial need.
Alpha Nu Omega, Oakland-Berkeley Chapter Scholarships High school and college-level students. Contact Sandy Carpenter-Stevenson, Chaiperson, Alpha Nu Omega, at
American Association of Japanese University Women Awarded to juniors, seniors, or graduate female students. Must be a contributer to U.S.-Japan relations, cultural exchanges and the development of leadership in the area of her designated field.
American Association of University Women (AAUW) Amador County Branch Scholarship Encourages higher education by awarding scholarships to local women in Amador County, CA. Scholarships available for community college, re-entry, and upper division/graduate work.
American Architectural Foundation Scholarship and Fellowships Multiple scholarships/fellowships for high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students who focus studies on the history of art, architecture, interior design, or related fields
American Businesswomen's Association Pathfinder Chapter Scholarship Scholarships awarded to a woman who is a US citizen, a resident of Alameda County, and enrolled in a Business or related program.
American Indian Graduate Center Undergraduate and Graduate students, provide fellowship opportunities to build, promote, and honor self-sustaining American Indian and Alaskan Natives
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Encouraging the pursuit of an accounting education.
American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Scholarships Each year students are awarded scholarships based on outstanding academic achievement and their involvement in AIChE programs and activities.
American Legion Auxiliary, Dept. of California Educational Scholarships Must either be a veteran of WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada/Lebanon, Panama, or Desert Shield/Desert Storm or the child of a veteran from the listed wars. Most scholarships require California residency.
American Political Science Association (APSA) The Association has established a number of awards covering dissertations, papers and articles, books, and career achievements in recognition excellence in the Political Science field.
American Society of Primatologists Grants from $500 to $1,500 available for general research projects sponsored by the ASPl. Preference to training initiatives, start-up funds, supplementary funding for students, and innovations in animal care and research technology.
American Women's Society of Certified Public Accountants (AWSCPA) Applicant must be a woman and aspiring to become a CPA or a woman who has made outstanding contributions to the accounting profession 13 scholarships worth from $1,000 - $5,000 each to deserving undergraduate college students.
APLE Loan Forgiveness Program for Teachers The program assumes up to $19,000 in outstanding educational loan balances in return for four consecutive years of qualifying teaching. Teacher Education Dept. at Cal State East Bay (510) 885-3027
Army ROTC Scholarship

The Army offers 2, 3 and 4 year undergraduate and 2 year graduate full tuition scholarships to students who wish to become commissioned officers after completing their degrees at CSU East Bay. or 510-643-7682
Army Language ROTC Scholarship

The Army offers 2, 3 and 4 year undergraduate full tuition scholarships to students who wish to become commissioned officers after completing their degrees at CSU East Bay. Army Nurse Corps Association (ANCA) The purpose of the ANCA Scholarship Program is to award scholarships to U.S. citizen students attending accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing or anesthesia nursing programs. Complete information and application can be found by visiting sponsor’s website.
Army Nursing Scholarship

Two-, 3-, and 4-year full tuition ROTC scholarships are available for students pursuing a baccalaureate degree at an accredited school of nursing. Two-year scholarships available for 1st semester junior nursing students and two-year scholarships also available to college graduates pursuing certain advanced practice nursing master’s degree. or 510-643-7682
Art Metal Workshop Inc. Two $1000 scholarships for two students enrolled in fall/spring 2014 at any college, university, trade or technical school within the US or Canada.
Arts Recognition and Talent Search (ARTS) The National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) is the exclusive nominating organization to the Presidential Ascholars Program sponored by the White House. NFAA nominates up to fifty ARTS finalists each year. Other scholarships also available at this site for students interested in or enrolled as art majors.
ASCO Numatics Scholarship Awarded for potential leadership and making a significant contribution to the enginering, instrumentation, systems, and automation professions, particularly as they relate to the application of fluid control and fluid power technologies. Must have complete Sophomore year as an Undergraduate or be admitted to a Graduate program and must be a US citizen or legal US resident.
Asian American Journalists Association Scholarships Students, undergraduate or graduate, are selected based on the following criteria: commitment to the field of journalism, sensitivity to Asian American/Pacific Islander issues, journalism ability, scholastic ability and financial need.
Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS)Fellowship The APAICS offers three fellowship programs to post-graduate and graduate students. The term of the fellowship is 9 months, and the student will receive a stipend of $20,000 for travel and boarding.
Asian/Pacific Islander Faculty and Staff (APIFSA) Scholarship Open to students enrolled as a Cal State East Bay Undergraduate or Graduate student, with overall min. GPA of 2.5.  Submit the application: 2013 AANIPISI-APIFSA Scholarship Application.pdf
ASQ (American Society for Quality) Scholarships and Awards Scholarships for both Undergraduate and Graduate students to encourage future leaders in business, engineering and science to examine the fundamental role Quality plays in advancing society in many arenas including management, science, engineering, statistics, and in products and processes.
Assoc. of California Water Agencies Scholarship 

$5,000 Clair A. Hill Scholarship awarded each year, sponsored by CH2M Hill, is awarded to a deserving student in a water-related field of study. Must be full-time student in junior or senior year.  

Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP)- San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Open to students planning to engage in a career in the environmental field. Undergraduate and graduate students attending any accredited four-year college or university located within the counties service by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter are eligible.
Bay Area Minority Law Student Scholarship Program $10,000 scholarship toward the first year of law school, with possible renewal for an additional two years, depending on funds available and scholarship requirements fulfilled.
BigSun Scholarship All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport in which they are engaged.
Black College Dollars This free scholarship search is geared for African-American students, contains more than 300 scholarships searchable by GPA requirement, academic and career interest, and application deadline.

A.W. Bodine-Sunkist Memorial Scholarship Either the student, someone in the student's immediate family, must have derived a majority of their income from CA or AZ agriculture, must show financial need, and show they can succeed academically: e.g. high GPA, extracurricular activities.
Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Must be a female student entering senior year as an Undergraduate or enrolled as a Graduate student; be enrolled in a computer science or computer engineering program, and must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
Burger King Scholarship Program Separate applications for general public and for employees/dependents of employees. General public/dependents must be graduating high school seniors with a 2.5 GPA who plan to enroll in an accredited 2 or 4 year university.

Calaveras Big Trees Assn. - Emily M. Hewitt Scholarship Students pursuing degrees in environmental protection, forestry, wildlife and fisheries biology, parks and recreation, park management, environmental law and public policy, environmental art, and California history are encouraged to apply.
California Association of Realtors Scholarship This scholarship is designed to support a career in real estate. Must be a CA resident, have completed 12 units before applying, and be currently enrolled in 6 units with one course in Real Estate or a Real Estate related course, and maintain a GPA of 2.6.

California Federation of Republican Women Scholarships Must be a woman resident of CA, is a registered Republican, or has a high interest in involvement in the Republican party.
California Financial Aid Applications, Scholarships, and Related Information for Nursing Students Financial aid opportunities for nursing students or students studying in healthcare, and are CA residents.
California Foundation for Parks and Recreation Scholarships award to junior, senior, and graduate level students majoring in recreation, parks and leisure studies through out the state of CA.

California Society of Certified Public Accountants Designed specifically for business and accounting, majors, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. GPA must be at least 3.25; must have completed 9 (quarter) unit after principles of accounting.
California State University, East Bay (CSUEB) Chicano/Latino Staff and Faculty Association Scholarship This opportunity is open to all CSUEB students. In addition to the application, the applicant will need to submit an essay describing their leadership and/or participation in the Latino community, and how they will apply their education to improving the Latino community. California Strawberry Growers' Scholarship Fund Current college students who are children of strawberry farm workers.
California Transportation Foundation Recipients must be intent on a career in transportation and be US citizens, permanent residents, or documented international students.
CANFIT Scholarships Undergraduate and graduate scholarships are available for California African-American, American Indian, Alaska Native, Asian American, Pacific Islander or Latino/Hispanic students expressing financial need to study nutrition, physical education, or culinary arts in the state of CA.
Capital Fellows Programs The Center administers four fellowship programs.
Alice Chavez Pardini Education Advancement Grant Sponsored by the San Francisco Chapter of the CA Council of the Blind, this $2,500 scholarship is specifically for high school seniors and college students who have parents with disabilities.
Coca-Cola Scholarship Seniors in high schools throughout the US who meet the eligibility requirements may apply each year for one of the 250 four-year, achievement-based scholarships.
COLAGE Scholarship Program Open to Undergraduate-level students. Must have one or more lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer parents(s) /guardian(s), must be enrolled at the university, with a min. GPA of 2.0, applicant must also show demonstrated ability and commitment to effecting change in the LBGTQ community and the community at large.

College Prowler "No Essay" Scholarship Open to all US students currently enrolled in college. Winner chosen at random. One entry per student, but you may apply every month for new drawings.

Computer Science and Computer Engineering Academic Scholarship Must be US citizen or a permanent resident, must have completed a min. of 45 quarter units, and enrolled in computer science, computer engineerin, computer information systems, software engineering, database management, computer networking, computer programming or information technology management.
COMTO Scholarship (Conference of Minority Transportation Officials) Must be a US Citizen, an Undergraduate student, only Sophomomore, Juionr or Senior may apply, must be enrolled fulltime; be a member of a miniority race, a resident of the San Francisco
bay area or Sacramento area, and havea min. GPA of 2.4.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Scholarship Both Undergraduate and Graduate students may apply. Must be enrolled full-time, show financial need, must be a US citizen or permanent resident, have strong writing skills, and show consistent, active participation in public and/or community services activities.
Contra Costa Association of Realtors Scholarship Foundation

CCAR Scholarship Foundation provides college scholarship grants to qualifying students in the fields of finance, business and real estate.
Contra Costa County Court Scholarship Awards up to $2,500 to Contra Costa residents with a criminal /juvenile conviction.
Jim Costa - Kern County Water Agency Fellowship Must be a resident of Kern County or have graduate from a Kern Co. high school; studying  in a water resources-related field (eligible fields  include physical and biological sciences, public administration, health, political science, and other related fields)
Credit Challenged College Scholarship Rejected for a student loan due to the credit crunch or their personal credit history, student must be a legal US resident, must be age 17 - 25, and must be enrolled full-time in either an Undergraduate or Graduate program.
CREW Network Scholarship Designed for women pursuing a career in the commercial real estate industry and offers an internship in brokerage. The student must be of Junior or Senior standing and have a min. GPA of 3.0.
Dare to Dream Scholarship Awards $1,500 to $9000 to selected foster youth pursuing their higher education dreams.
B. Davis Scholarship $1,000 scholarship available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution.

Dell Scholars Program This program is for entering freshman. Participating in a Michael & Susan Dell Foundation approved college readiness program for a minimum of 2 years, graduating from an accredited high school this academic year, and entering a bachelor's degree program in the fall directly after your graduation from high school.
Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments (DEED) Student Research Grant/Internship Only graduate and undergraduate students studying in energy-related disciplines from accredited universities are eligible. Applicants must conduct research on a project approved by the sponsoring utility, and submit a final report on the project. Two awards are given annually.
Bill Dickey Scholarship Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and be able to demonstrate their involvement in the sport of golf.
Dowd and Guild, Inc. Scholarship Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, currently enrolled in or entering a 2 or 4 year undergraduate college, in good academic standing, and be a California resident.
EERE Postdoctoral Research Awards The Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Postdoctoral Research Awards support EERE's mission in energy efficiency and renewable energy by offering recent Ph.D. recipients the opportunity to conduct applied research at universities, national laboratories, and other research facilities.
Easley National Scholarship Program National Academy of American Scholars - Scholarships for high school seniors only.  Scholarship for graduate and undergraduate students in various fields of study such as Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement; Liberal Arts; Education; Computer Science/Engineering; Architecture and Drafting; Business Administration; Nursing and Health; Public Administration and more.
Educators for Fair Consideration (E4FC) Scholarship awards, student services, online scholarship information for low-income immigrant college students living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Listings include scholarship listing available regardless of citizenship or residency status.
Engineering and Utility Contractors Association Applicant must be an employee, spouse or dependent of a member company employee. Applicant must be accepted or enrolled as a part time/full time student at any accredited junior college, trade school, or four year college (affiliates can major in any industry) and maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. Past winners are not eligible.
EntirelyPets Scholarship Open to graduating high school students as well as currently enrolled college studentsof any major. Students can apply by simply answering the prompt: "How has owning a pet positively impacted your life?" Three awards in the amounts of $1500, $1000, and $500.
Equals 6 Scholarships Equals6 offers scholarships to high school and college/university students twice each year with scholarships being awarded 1st June and 1st December. Student scholarships are distributed between high school and university/college students and are awarded based upon academic achievement and Equals6 community participation. Must sign up on the Student Professionals Social Network hosted by Equals 6.
Es El Momento Open to all students of Latino/Hispanic heritage regardless of whether they are US citizens or undocumented.
Everest Nutrition's Krill Oil $1,000 to two students, pursuing further education beyond a high school level, as part of the 'Krill Oil - Education Your Heart' Program!
Express Metrix IT Asset Management Scholarship $5,000 will be awarded to a student interested in pursuing a career in IT management. Applicaitons will be evaluated based on an essay (500-1000 words) describing how they believe their IT management education/background can have a positive impact in the business world.
Federal Employees Education and Assitance (FEEA) Scholarship Funds Applicant must be either a current civil, federal, or postal employee, with at least 3 years of service (dependents also qualify), employee applicant must be a part-time student, dependent must be a full-time student, and students must have a min. GPA of 3.0.
Financial Aid for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered Students A number or scholarships are available to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered students: general, athletic, and regional scholarships.
Financial Women's Association of San Francisco (FWASF) The FWASF Scholarship Fund provides graduate and undergraduate scholarships to San Francisco bay Area women pursuing careers in the fields of finance or the financial services industry.
Fine Arts Finals Scholarship Competitions High school and collegiate level competitions in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, fiber arts, photography, digital art, and graphic design.
Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, show evidence of superior academic achievement, enroll in an eligible research-based program leading to a PhD or SC degree at a U.S. educational institution, and have not yet earned a Doctorate. This Fellowship seeks to increase the diversity of the nation's college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity. Frugal Dad Scholarship $5,000 non-renewable scholarship for undergrads enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited university. Must be 16 years old and US citizen at time of application. 500 word essay required.
Fulbright U.S. Student Program Provides opportunities for American and foreign scholars to lecture and/or conduct research abroad. Grants are provided in the form of internships, tuition, travel, expenses, teaching assistantships, and book and research allowances. Fulbright opportunitites for students, graduates, and post doctoral scholars.
