Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)
Cal State East Bay's Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program is designed for prospective transfer students who began their college education at a community college. The TAG agreement outlines the community college coursework necessary to guarantee later entry into Cal State East Bay as an upper-division transfer student. Combined with early advising prior to submitting an application for admission, TAG helps to ensure the completion of required and recommended coursework for admission, general education completion, and lower-division major requirements. In addition, TAG students receive an application fee waiver for that term of entry.
TAG Eligibility
- TAG agreements are only accepted for Fall Quarter from California residents with domestic transcripts only (i.e. no international transcripts).
- TAG agreements must be completed and signed by a community college counselor by November 30 of the year prior to intended entry. TAGs are not accepted if an application is already on file.
- Students are eligible to enter the TAG program after completing a minimum of 12 semester (18 quarter) transferable units at a community college and have minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
- TAG is not available for second bachelor's degree students, impacted program applicants, or California non-residents.
- TAG agreements are only valid for the term of entry and major indicated on the TAG form.
- TAG agreements are only valid after being approved by Cal State East Bay. Students receive a notification letter if the TAG is accepted.
- TAG students must meet all upper-division transfer admission requirements for the specified term of entry to be admitted to the University. Cal State East Bay requires Fall Quarter transfer applicants to complete all course requirements by the Spring term prior to the Fall Quarter term of entry.
To Participate in TAG
To participate in the TAG program students are required to:
- Complete and sign a TAG form with a community college counselor or a Cal State East Bay admission counselor.
- Cal State East Bay will review the TAG. If accepted, a letter will be sent to the student indicating his/her TAG status and providing instructions on meeting with a Cal State East Bay counselor for further admission counseling and application instructions.
TAG students receive an automatic application fee waiver for the specified term of entry indicated. Instructions for using the fee waiver are included in the TAG approval letter.
For more information on the TAG program, students may consult a Cal State East Bay admission counselor or their community college counselor.
