Transferring Credits
Admitted students with college or university credit can access their official transfer credit evaluation on MyCSUEB prior to the start of classes. This evaluation shows how courses completed at other institutions transfer to Cal State East Bay.
Transfer students are encouraged to use the ASSIST Web site for a preliminary review of transferable courses. ASSIST is recognized by the State of California as the official repository of student transfer information for California's public colleges and universities. The site will show if a course transfers, counts for general education requirements, or counts toward major requirements.
Students transferring from community colleges may transfer a maximum of 70 semester (105 quarter) units of credit. Students transferring from a 4-year institution may transfer a maximum of 141 quarter units of credit. Course work assigned a grade of 2.0 or higher may be recognized in transfer.
Advanced Placement
Cal State East Bay grants credit for successful completion of Advanced Placement examinations offered by the College Board. Scores of 3 or higher will be accepted. Students who present scores of 3 or better will be granted 4 to 12 quarter units of transfer college credit depending on the subject area. Visit the University Catalog for more information.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Students can receive credit for a select group of College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests. Strong scores may allow for a course waiver or course credit. There are no specific course equivalencies for these examinations -- only transfer unit credit toward graduation may be granted. See the University Catalog for more information.
