California State University East Bay's Enterprise Operations Department and Associated Students Inc. sample_carhave partnered together to bring Zipcar to the Hayward campus.Zipcar, the world's largest  24/7 car-sharing service, will provide CSUEB students, faculty and staff with a convenient and eco-friendly way to get around whether it's running errands, driving to the City or taking a road trip. 

Number of Vehicles and Locations on Campus

There are a total of six Zipcars on campus. Two of them are housed at Pioneer Heights (on campus housing) off Harder Road. The vehicles will be parked on the main street to Pioneer Heights directly in front of Lassen Hall. Two Zipcars are housed in Lot D, which is located off Harder Road next to the Recreation and Wellness Center. One Zipcar is located at University Village apartment’s right across from Carlos Bee Blvd. The final Zipcar is located in Lot H across from the Student Admin Building next to the University Vanpool spaces.


Rates starts as low $7.50 per hour.

Reserving a Car

To reserve a car, you must be age 18 years or older, meet eligibility requirements and join Zipcar using a debit or credit card to pay the annual membership fee of $35 (the first year is $25 thanks to Zipcar's partnership with Ford). Members age 18 to 20 can only reserve Zipcars assigned nationwide; members 21 years and older will also have access to Zipcars network of more than 12,000 vehicles worldwide.

*We want to add two new benefits for the FALL 2015 school year. All 18-20 year old students now have access to all Zipcars across the world. The 2nd new advancement in what we call Instant Join. New members will now be able to access the car through their smartphones, within 24 hours, instead having to wait the 7-14 days for their Zipcards.

All memberships, reservations and payments are administered and managed by Zipcar.


Why bring a car to campus when you have access to Zipcar? Sign up for $25 and get $35 in driving credit toward reservations in your first month. Once membership is confirmed, a Zipcar membership card, also known as a "Zipcard",is mailed to the credit or debit card billing address. Users 21 years and older may reserve and drive anywhere there is a Zipcar. Drivers younger than 21 years are encouraged to review this important insurance information.

If you use Zipcar for personal reasons, join with a personal credit or debit card. The initial $25 annual membership comes with $35 in driving credit to be applied as a credit toward reservations in your first month. Once membership is confirmed, you'll receive a Zipcard in the mail.

Enterprise Operations is currently working with University Procurement to allow departments to use Zipcars on official business with their procurement credit card. We will notify the campus of any updates.
