FILING A COMPLAINT

As a student with a disability, your have three ways to pursue any concerns or complaints that you might have regarding the University's (including SDRC's) response to your disability accommodation needs.

1. File a Complaint or Grievance with SDRC:

  • Any students with a disability who have questions, concerns or disagreements about accommodations offered by SDRC's counselors or other staff members may formally appeal their decision by completing an Accommodation Appeal Request Form-Word Format. Please cite the specifics regarding your compliant and submit your completed Accommodation Appeal Request Form to the SDRC Director in LI 2400.
  • It is anticipated that disagreements will be resolved as expeditiously as possible; usually in ten (10) working days. During this appeal process, your current accommodations, as determined by the counselor, will continue to be in effect.
  • If you disagree with the SDRC Director's decision on your appeal you are encouraged to submit your objection to the University's Vice President for Student Affairs in WA 959 for additional consideration.

2. File a Complaint or Grievance to the Campus ADA Officer:

  • Any students with disabilities who feel that any part of the University has discriminated against them on the basis of their disability may file a complaint with the campus ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Officer. 3. File a Complaint or Grievance with the Office of Civil Rights (OCR)

  • If a student with a disability/disabilities who feels that this University has discriminated against him or her on the basis of their disability may file a complaint under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act directly with the Federal Office of Civil Rights in San Francisco, CA.
