Pioneer Heights Fall 2014 Move In
CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME to Pioneer Heights at CSU East Bay! We are an exciting and vibrant community and we are excited to have you join us!
Move In Days Information
Residents may arrive and move-in ONLY during their scheduled time. Please follow/adhere to the schedule so that you are not turned away for arriving outside of your check in period. YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY FOR FAILING TO ADHERE TO THESE INSTRUCTIONS. Based on all aspects of our move in process, we can ONLY accommodate residents based on the move in schedule.
Residents will need to "check-in" at one central location on their move in day. There will be signage and staff members to guide residents through the steps of check in. Please select the appropriate link for community. You will then be directed to specific information about your move: what to pack, when to check-in, and what you’ll need to do this coming fall as you prepare for your big move!
- Friday, September 19 – Suites (Freshman)
- Saturday, September 20 – Doubles (Sophomore/Juniors)
- Sunday, September 21 – Singles (Juniors/Seniors)
- Sunday, September 21 – University Village
REMINDER - You will not be permitted to move into your community before your scheduled move in date.

Parking Information and Restrictions
From Mission Blvd, the best route to get to Pioneer Heights is by taking Harder Rd. Just past Greek Hill, take the first right (the road veers right just before the Dining Commons.) This takes you to the parking lot near the residence halls (Lot C).
Look for staff and signage directing you to Check-In and noting the traffic flow. Our staff will be directing traffic and monitoring the Unloading Zones and No Parking Zones. As a courtesy to everyone unloading, these parking guidelines will be strictly enforced.
Please check your building's move in page for specific information on your move in day.
Some students need to move-in early for various reasons including athletic and leadership involvement, or working on campus. Students must be approved to move in earlier than the official opening of the residential communities. Early arrivals will only be accommodated for through a campus administrator so to verify the early move in request. Additional charges may apply. For more information on Early Arrivals contact the Housing Office at (510) 885-7444 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
NO EARLY ARRIVAL REQUESTS WILL BE CONSIDERED AFTER SPETEMBER 1
Move-In Weekend Assistance
We have two helpful offerings to assist with your smooth and timely move-in process.
*Dollies- There will be complimentary dollies available for use during the scheduled move-in times (available first come, first serve.). We will be asking for you to leave a form of ID and a cell phone number so that we can contact you should you go over the allotted usage time. You will only be able to check out the dolly for 20-30 minutes at a time. Thus, we encourage you to bring your own dolly if you need to use one for an extended period of time.
*Move-In Volunteers- There will be a number of volunteers from various campus clubs, organizations, and departments to help move your belongings and answer questions.
Mail and Addresses
Residents will be issued a mailbox number and a combination. This information will be sent to you via your horizon e-mail account. This mailbox will be your mailing address for your entire stay in Pioneer Heights. If you change apartments during the year, or from year to year, this mailbox never changes. Your new mailing address will include this mailbox number and all future mail should be addressed as follows:
First Name, Last Name
1901 Harder Road, Box # <your mailbox number>
Hayward, CA 94542
**Please note that, in the mailing address above, the “Box” number is your mailbox number and NOT your room or apartment number!**
Please do not mail items to Pioneer Heights prior to move in. Due to the amount of mail we receive on a daily basis, we are unable to hold packages for future residents. The mailroom will be open during move-in weekend.
The Bay Card
The CSUEB Bay Card is used both on Campus and in Housing for a variety of different services. Residents of Pioneer Heights must have a special Housing Bay Card to access their suite/apartment, laundry room and community rooms. New residents will be able to pick up their Housing Bay Card at Check In. Returning residents can continue to use their existing cards. Your card will begin to give you access to your room/apartment/suite upon check in. For more information about the Bay Card, please visit our Bay Card website.
Please see the ResNet Section of the website for further information about connecting to the Resident Network.
It is highly recommended that you have renter’s insurance for your personal property. The University has no insurance to cover damage or loss of your personal belongings. Sometimes this will be covered under a parent’s homeowner/rental policy, but you will want to check with your insurance agent about the details.
For your convenience, we will provide information on attaining rental insurance on move in day.
