Returning Resident Process

We recommend that current students reserve their on-campus housing space for the 2015-2016 academic year by participating in the Returning Resident Process which will begin on March 9th.  As a current on-campus resident, your student has priority in reserving their space for next year.   A payment of $540 ($40 application fee + $500 initial payment) allows your student to take advantage of their current priority status, which gives them first pick of all the available rooms.   We have moved to a paperless process, so the application and contract will both be completed online through the Housing Portal and for their convenience (and yours), the application fee and initial payment may be paid online.

To best accommodate our diverse student population, we will continue offering Gender Open and Co-Ed living arragements. We will also continue our partnership with University Village to accommodate our growing Student Housing population.

Once your student has completed the contract process for the next academic year, they will be eligible to participate in the Room Selection Lottery.  Lottery dates and times will be assigned based upon the contract completion date, so the earlier that they complete the contract process, the earlier their lottery time will be.  When it is your student’s assigned lottery time, they will need to log into the Housing Portal and select their room assignment for the 2015-2016 academic year.

We will have two (2) Returning Resident Information Sessions to explain this new process and to answer any questions that our residents may have.  We will also have an Open-House which allows your student to view the different housing types that we offer.

The initial payment is refundable (less a $100 cancellation fee) if your student cancels the license agreement up to 30 days prior to the start of the Student Housing contract. Important Information:

  • Housing preferences are on a first come first serve basis.

    • To increase the possibility of receiving first housing preference, complete the contract and initial payment as soon as possible.

    • For increased possibility of living with friends, each interested individual should complete contract and initial payment on the same day.

  • Complete application, contact, and payment online using the Student Housing Portal.

  • The $40 nonrefundable application fee and a $500 initial payment are required to complete the contract.

  • 56 additional bed spaces have been added throughout the Calaveras, Coloma, Sierra, and Sonora buildings.

  • The Coloma Building is designated to residents transitioning from the suites into apartments. For residents interested in this option, select an apartment in the Coloma building during room selection.

  • The Sierra building will be updated with new energy efficient windows, furnaces, water heaters, stoves, and refrigerators.

  • University Village internet and cable service will be upgraded. The internet will receive a dedicated fiber optic line increasing the current speeds by two to three times. The cable will be upgraded and provide a better selection of channels.


*Residents applying for Summer 2015, who have submitted the $40 application fee for Fall 2015, will not be charged an additional $40 for Summer application.
