Graduate Student Research Grant

Graduate Student Research Grants are intended to stimulate and support research by graduate students currently enrolled in master’s degree programs. Research does not have to be related to a master’s thesis or project. Research may be done individually, in collaboration with a faculty member, or with other students.
Research Grant Information
Research grants will range from $100 to $500 to support the following:
- Travel expenses for students delivering invited research papers at professional meetings
- Expenses necessary to conduct research that are not covered by the department or school
- Publication and reprint costs for research papers accepted by professional journals
Research does not have to be related to a master’s thesis or project. Research may be done individually, in collaboration with a faculty member, or with other students.
Application Information
To complete your application, please include all of the following:
- a three to five page description of the research project,
- a detailed line item budget,
- a letter from a faculty sponsor attesting to the quality of the research and need for support, and
- a statement of matching funds, if applicable, from the department, school, or personal sources (matching funds are not required).

All materials must be submitted by the application deadline to the Academic Programs and Graduate Studies (APGS) Student Services Office, SA 4500, on the Hayward Campus by the deadline.

Don't Forget to File a FAFSA for Each Year
Students must apply each year to obtain financial aid or to continue receiving aid by submitting a FAFSA. FAFSA deadline for priority consideration is March 2.
