Other financial assistance programs include the Graduate Equity Fellowship program for eligible graduate students, and the Future Scholars Program for eligible undergraduate students.
Graduate Equity Fellowship Program
The Graduate Equity Fellowship Program seeks to increase the diversity of students completing graduate degree programs in the Cal State University system, encourages continuation towards doctoral programs and promotes consideration of university faculty careers. Fellowships are provided for economically disadvantaged students who have had success in overcoming educational disadvantages. The program also promotes faculty mentoring and research opportunities.
Application packets are available from the General Education (GE) Office located in the Student Services and Administration Building, Suite 1500, on the Hayward Campus, beginning in early April each year. Recipients of the Fellowship must meet the following criteria:
- Be California residents
- Be admitted to Cal State East Bay and to a graduate program as a classified or conditionally classified student.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Have financial need of at least $1,000
- Enroll in a minimum of 8 units per quarter that are applicable to the master's degree
Future Scholars Program
The Future Scholars Program recognizes and promotes the academic ability of graduating high school seniors and community college transfer students, who have overcome obstacles, by providing financial assistance toward the pursuit of an undergraduate degree at Cal State East Bay. Scholarships are renewable for up to three subsequent years for students maintaining need and good academic standing.

Recipients must meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrate economic, educational or environmental disadvantages(s)
- Be California residents and admissible to Cal State East Bay
- Apply for Fall Quarter and enroll full time
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Don't Forget to File a FAFSA for Each Year
Students must apply each year to obtain financial aid or to continue receiving aid by submitting a FAFSA. FAFSA deadline for priority consideration is March 2.
