Marc Jacobs trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and performed with the Guthrie Theatre, the American Shakespeare Festival and the Stratford Festival of Ontario where he received the Tyrone Guthrie Award. In television he co-starred in "The People vs. Inez Garcia" and played Artie on "Days of Our Lives" for two years. He has directed plays, musicals, and operas for the Magic Theatre, New York City Opera, Houston Opera Center, American Musical Theatre of San Jose (AMTSJ; receiving two "Ginny Awards"), Los Angeles Music Center Opera, and Broadway By the Bay (receiving the San Francisco Bat Area Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Direction of a Musical). On Broadway, he assisted Director Hal Prince on the musical "Roza." He was Associate Artistic Director of AMTSJ for nine years and currently directs Music Theatre Conservatory, a professional summer training program. Plays and musical he has written include "How to Make a Musical (published by Dramatics Publishing), "All the More to Love" (premiered Phoenix Theatre 2010) and "The Iago Syndrome" (Meritorious Achievement Award, Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival).
