Cal State East Bay has many opportunities for you to meet people and be part of campus life. Choose from more than 90 academic athletic, Greek, honor, religious, recreational, student government, and cultural clubs and organizations. Student government, service to the community and leadership groups provide ways for you to get involved and make a difference.
Student Life and Leadership on the Hayward Campus
Student Life and Leadership provides opportunities for student learning beyond the classroom through a variety of seminars, classes and conferences presented by campus and community leaders.
Special programs include:
- Recognition and development of student organizations
- Orientation programs for new students;
- Opportunities to build alliances with faculty, staff, alumni and community leaders, student leadership development programs.
Air Force ROTC at U.C. Berkeley
Air Force ROTC is offered through the Aerospace Studies department at U.C. Berkeley. Scholarships (including tuition, book allowance, and stipend) are available for qualified students. Students may enroll and attend one course per semester at the U.C. Berkeley campus at no cost.
Topics covered in AFROTC courses include Basic Military knowledge (1-credit), Military History (1-credit), Leadership Training (3-credits), and U.S. National Security Affairs and Preparation for Active Duty (3-credits). Additional components of the ROTC program include 3 hours per week of fitness activities, 2 hours per week of Leadership Lab, and a 4-week Summer Field Training. Upon completion of the program and granting of 4-year degree, students will commission as Second Lieutenants in the United States Air Force. To be eligible for AFROTC, applicants should be a full time student and meet additional fitness, GPA, testing, and other requirements.
Army ROTC at California State University, East Bay
The Army ROTC club is for CSU East Bay students who are participating as cadets in the UC Berkeley Army Reserve Officer Training Course (ROTC). The club holds events on campus quarterly, provides a color guard for some athletic events and participates in team intramural sports.
ROTC prepares you for a career of service and success – service to your community as an Officer in the Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserve and ultimate success in life because of the top-notch leadership development, management training and experience you will receive. Army ROTC emphasizes the importance of maintaining good academic standings and for all cadets to complete their degrees. In order to assist our cadets in focusing on their studies rather the financial burden of higher education, Army ROTC offers the opportunity to compete for full tuition or Room and Board scholarships.
