The Freshman year experience is our commitment to your academic and social growth. Cal State East Bay provides a strong academic foundation and meaningful social connections with over 90 student clubs and organizations.
Freshman Learning Communities
The experience begins at Orientation, when you'll meet future classmates and are personally introduced to faculty in your chose major or field of study. Join the Freshman Learning Community of your choice and begin your college experience, with other students who share your interests and career objectives. Choose from thematically-linked programs in the Humanities, Natural Sciences or Social Sciences.
You'll receive individualized instruction in a small class setting and the courses you need to meet your major prerequisites and graduation requirements. With peer and faculty advising, study and support services, counseling and mentoring, we're ready to help you all the way.
Lots of fun activities and opportunities to express yourself are available to you as a freshman. Concerts, parties, field trips, book club, open mic nights, and more are designed to encourage your growth and social connections with other students and with faculty members.
For lectures and concerts, you'll find world-class musicians, speakers and entertainment on campus. In recent years, the University has welcomed engaging speakers, famous alumni and celebrity personalities.
