The Welcome Center is an excellent place to begin your visit to Cal State East Bay. Cal State East Bay offers pre-admission counseling to all prospective students at the Welcome Center on the Hayward Campus and also at the Concord Campus.
The Welcome Center
Located on the Hayward Campus, the Welcome Center serves visitors, prospective students and their families. Here you’ll find a campus map, publications from academic departments, and a friendly staff ready to answer your questions about becoming a student at Cal State East Bay.
Hours of Operation
The Welcome Center is open Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To book a tour or appointment, call (510) 885-2556. Daily walking tours depart at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. year round. Group tours are available by advance reservation. On weekends, stop by the Welcome Center for a self-guided tour map. Although the Welcome Center is open during lunch time, no advising services are available from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
Directions and Parking
To visit the Welcome Center, driving from Foothill Blvd., take Carlos Bee Blvd. to West Loop Dr., turn right on West Loop Drive. The Welcome Center is on the right, with nearby permit parking in Lot A or at metered street parking along West Loop Drive in front of the Welcome Center. Be sure to bring change for parking meters (quarters) or ticket booths ($7 per day). See more parking information at the University Parking Services Web site. Bus service to campus is available from AC Transit, with service from the BART Hayward Station.

Pre-Admission Counseling
Offered to all prospective students, new and transfer students are encouraged to make a pre-admission counseling appointment at the Hayward Campus, at the Concord Campus, or at their current college. Cal State East Bay provides enrollment counseling at area community colleges. Check with your college's transfer center to see when Cal State East Bay will be visiting, and make an appointment.
At the Welcome Center, Hayward Campus
Pre-admission counseling is available to all prospective students by appointment, and by walk-in at the Welcome Center on the Hayward Campus. During your appointment, an enrollment counselor will review your transcript and discuss your admissibility to the University. Please bring the following to your appointment:
- Copies of all high school and college transcripts
- Cal State East Bay transfer evaluation, if applicable
- All documents related to admissions or graduations, including a list of any courses you are currently taking
Sorry, we are not able to give counseling to international students nor to domestic students with international transcripts.
International Students Pre-Admission Counseling
Pre-admission counseling is available for international students only at the International Admissions Office, please see the International Student Admission page. Domestic students with international transcripts will also need to visit the International Admissions Office for assistance with admission.
At the Academic Services Center, Concord Campus
Pre-admission counseling is available by appointment to all Concord and pre-nursing prospective students at the Academic Services Center on the Concord Campus. During your appointment, an enrollment counselor will review your transcript and discuss your admissibility to the University. Prospective Concord Campus students are requested to attend an information session before their advising session.
Call (925) 602-6700 to make a pre-advising appointment. The Concord office is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please bring the following to your appointment:
- Copies of any applicable transcripts you may have
- Cal State East Bay General Education (GE) transfer evaluation, if applicable
- All documents related to admissions or graduations, including a list of any courses you are currently taking
