FALL AUDITIONS

Auditions in the Fall Quarter are for most department productions. Roles remaining after the Fall Audition are cast by the show director on an “as needed” basis with auditions by appointment. See the Season Announcement flyer for director names. Senior Theatre projects are auditioned in the Winter Quarter, so watch the Callboard for an announcement.

Register for a production course, as specified by a director, by the day after casting is posted.

If you want to be considered for Stage Manager, see the director or department Chair during the first week of classes.

2013 FALL AUDITIONS

Follow Me to Nellie's

West Coast Premiere of an original play written by Dominique Morisseau
This bluesy, humorous, and moving play, based on the true story of Nellie Jackson, proprietor of an unpretentious brothel in Mississippi, portrays African Americans coping with their segregated existence in 1955.

Tuesday, October 2 at 7pm in University Theatre
Bring memorized monologue under 2 minutes.

Avenue Q, The Musical

A Tony Award winner for Best Musical, Avenue Q is like Sesame Street for adults. Humans and puppets interact and deal with life, work, and sex, as well as the problems of having a useless degree and not being quite as “special” as our parents told us we were.

Warning: This musical features puppets in adult situations! "...a savvy, sassy and eminently likable...breakthrough musical" – Ben Brantley, New York Times

Tuesday, October 8 at 4pm in University Theatre
Bring memorized song and sheet music; accompanist provided.

Alice in Wonderland

Alice's antic adventures are presented in a dizzy revelation where actors can become mushrooms or flamingos in an instant. This topsy-turvy adaptation takes the classic tale and makes it a totally new piece of theatre of the imagination.

Students should register for either THEA 2295 or THEA 4495; auditions will be in first class, and everyone in class will be cast.

2013-14 Dance Program Auditions

Whether you've been training for many years or have never taken a single dance class, please come meet the CSUEB dance community and find out what's happening this year at one or all of these Dance Auditions.

Inclusive Interdisciplinary Dance Ensemble
Thursday, Oct. 3rd & 10th from 6 - 8pm
THEA 182

The Inclusive Interdisciplinary Ensemble (IIE) is a group of students, community members and professional performers under the direction of dance professor Eric Kupers, dedicated to creating high quality, provocative, contemporary performance that is accessible to people of all sizes, shapes, abilities/disabilities, ages, cultural backgrounds and experience levels. This year we are creating an original dance/theater work that seeks to blur the lines between dance and singing, as well as remounting and touring the award-winning production Tongues, which launched the IIE in 2008. We are looking for performers interested in movement, playing music, singing, acting and experimenting with racial diversity.
